Politics has certainly been a favorite niche for tinsel town filmmakers, especially of modern times. Credit goes to social media for growing political involvement of contemporary people. And, the growing political involvement of people has made filmmakers interested in banking on subjects based on it. This is clearly evident if someone takes a look at the upcoming political bollywood movies. Moreover, it can be claimed that these movies can influence upcoming 2019 general election as most of these are releasing at the later parts of 2018.
The Accidental Prime Minister:
Anyone a Congress supporter is obvious not to be very happy about this movie. The movie has been written by Hansal Mehta. Anupam Kher will be in lead portraying Manmohan Singh. Reportedly, Suzanne Bernert has been roped in for playing Sonia Gandhi’s character. The movie is going to hit the theatres on 21st December, 2018. It is being directed by Vijay Gutte.
Vivek Agnihotri directorial ‘Tashkent’ is another much fussed political movies. The movie will be based on suspicious death of Lalbahadur Shastri. Narendra Modi Biopic:
Anyone having interest in politics would certainly wait for this one. Earlier, it was heard that Akshay Kumar will be playing PM Modi. However, it is now confirmed that veteran Paresh Rawal will portray the central character. Moreover, Paresh has made it clear that the movie will include 2002 Gujurat riot aspect. In fact, it’s going to be a big movie involving a huge 40 crore budget. The movie is all set to go on floors this March-April. It is going to be directed by Mitesh Patel. Mihir Bhuta and Kishore Makwana are penning the script.
Prakash Jha is all set for making a sequel to his 2010 hit Rajneeti. The movie’s script is almost complete. However, Mr. Jha is struggling to finalise the star cast. To be specific, he is in confusion whether to pick Priyanka Chopra or Katrina Kaif. Well, it is not going to be a typical sequel to Rajneeti. Rather, it will be based on Anna Hazare’s movement against corruption.
Indira: The most Powerful Prime Minister
Based on the book ‘Indira: The most powerful prime minister’ by Sagarika Ghose, the movie to star Vidya Balan in lead. However, it is not sure whether the movie will be a complete feature film or a web series. Anyway, it’s certain that Vidya will be in lead and the movie will be produced by Vidya’s husband Siddharth Roy Kapoor.
Rishi Kapoor’s look in Mulk is already viral. Among others, the movie stars Taapsee Pannu in a pivotal character. Though not based directly on any political character or incidence, it’s a social thriller that reflects Indo-Pak political relationship up to certain extent. Taapsee plays Rishi Kapoor’s daughter-in-law in this Anubhav Sinha movie.
