Aamir Khan is known for his choice of movies. The superstar takes at least one year to release a movie post announcement. However, Mr. Perfectionist is in news these days for rejecting films. Aaamir Khan denied doing Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar starer 2.0. People speculated why Aamir Khan rejected 2.0, though, it was heard that Aamir was more interested in doing the role that is being played by Rajnikanth. Anyway, this is not the first time that Aamir has rejected a big budget movie. Given below is the line-up of Aamir Khan rejected movies that later bagged by Shahrukh, and made him a superstar.
Not many people reject movies from Yash Raj banner. However, Aamir Khan had denied the movie because he was offered the negative character. Unlike present days, negative characters were not preferred those days. In fact, Bollywood’s Dabangg Khan Salman too had rejected the movie for the same reason. It is also said that Aamir was not interested in sharing space with Sunny Deol, who was enjoying the superstar’s status then. Anyway, Shahrukh accepted the opportunity, and needless is to say that the character provided the major boost to his character.
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge:
Can you believe that? DDLJ first choice was Aamir Khan in 1995. But, he denied as the character didn’t impress him. Later Shahrukh Khan bagged the character and made it historic. SRK got the best actor award as well for the iconic role.
Dil Toh Pagal Hai:
Dil Toh Pagal Hai too was initially offered to Aamir Khan. But, he denied the movie as the film’s story was not too interesting for him. Shahrukh later bagged it and made it big as everyone knows. However, it is said that Aamir denied the film for multi starer “Ishq”, which too was a super hit.
Aditya Chopra directed Mohabbatein made many go crazy for Shahrukh after it got released in 2000. But, very few people know that the role was initially offered to Aamir Khan. Aamir denied doing the same as he was not interested in a romantic role then. Interestingly Aamir chose “Mela” instead in the same year, which was a disaster. On the other hand, Mohabbatein got the “Blockbuster” status.
In the same year 2000, Aamir rejected another film that was later bagged by Shahrukh. It was ‘Josh’ that Aamir was offered. However, Aamir denied doing it as he felt his character is less influential in comparison with that of Shahrukh. Yes, director Mansoor Khan had planned to bring both SRK and Aamir together for the flick. Aamir was offered the role that Sharad Kapoor later did.
Well, keeping Aamir Khan’s film selection formula in mind, it’s hard to believe that he denied doing the same. Yes, it’s a fact that he was offered the character initially. But, Aamir was not interested in doing a film again with the same director (Ashutosh Gowariker) as in that year he had done “Lagaan”. Aamir also rejected the movie as he didn’t like the script.
