Karni Sena-Padmaavat drama continues. Reportedly, the release of Padmaavat in Indore has been deferred. Indore Karni Sena chief Raghu Parmar says that the movie shows queen Padmavati rushed to Delhi to save her husband Ratan Singh. But, according to Parmar, there is no such evidence in history. However, irony is that the distributors and theater owners in the city were ready to screen the movie a couple of days back, after the government assured complete protection.
As per director of Central Circuit Cine Association (CCCA) O P Goyal, “The release of ‘Padmaavat’ in Indore, which was to happen on Thursday, has been put off. Right now, we cannot exactly tell when it will be released here”. However, he didn’t mention about the reason behind the film being halted. An explicit show was arranged for Karni Sena, after which such issues have appeared.
As per Karni Sena MP Raghu Parmar, “History has been distorted in the movie.” “The movie depicts the character of erstwhile Chittor ruler Ratan Singh as weak (as compared to the Alauddin Khilji),” he added. “The film shows that queen Padmavati went to Delhi to free her husband from Khilji’s captivity, although there is no historical evidence to prove it” .He added “We warn Sanjay Leela Bhansali to stop making films by way of distorting history”.
Well, theatre owners in MP last month had decided not to screen the movie due to security issues and the protests. In fact, bandhs were observed as well in several parts of state. It is here to mention that on 23rd January, the Supreme Court had cleared the paths of screening, declining any sort of modification. Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh had petitioned the court to change its decision and keep the release of the movie in halt.
