Great news for all the filmy folks here! Legendary actor and national award winner Naseeruddin Shah is going to act in a film based on Lalbahadur Shastri’s life. Making it interesting, another national award winning actor Mithun Chakraborty is going to co-act with him in the film. ‘Buddha in a Traffic Jam’ fame Vivek Agnihotri is going to direct the movie. Vivek is quite excited about the movie as he says people should definitely know about such a legendary personality of their nation. To be specific, the movie is going to focus on Shastri’s death. Lalbahadur Shastri’s death was one of the most suspicious aspects in the history of Indian politics.
Vivek says that the movie is going to be the most apolitical movie that is based on a political figure. The movie is tentatively going to be called “Tashkent”. More than Shastri’s childhood or political fight, the movie is going to highlight about his mysterious death in 1966. It is here to mention that “Tashkent” is now Uzbekistan.
In fact, Vivek has already started shooting for the movie. Its first schedule has been set in Delhi and Mumbai. Interesting here is to mention that Vivek is going to unwrap about the aspects those forced the then government to keep silence on the matter.
Naturally, if a character like “Padmavati”, which is more than 1500 years old, can create such controversy, this one (which is certainly expected to bring a leading national political party under scanner), is obvious to create some controversy.
Making things more noteworthy, Vivek says that he wanted to make a movie on Bofors scam, but failed to do as he couldn’t arrange the needful fund for it.
Veteran Naseeruddin takes it like a challenge as this is a movie that will be having no star, glitz, songs, etc. A movie that is going to question certain international diplomacy is indeed a challenging subject, as per Naseeruddin.
Well, Vivek Agnihotri is not new to controversy. His movie “Budhdha in traffic Jam” had also created a lot of controversy. The film was not allowed to be screen in certain areas. Talking about his plan to do the movie, Vivek says this idea came in to his mind after witnessing overflowing respect for Lalbahadur Shastri on one of his tweets. Many of them urged him to make a movie based on Shastri.
Agnihotri says that he has been researching on the subject since past two years. Through the process, he found that there are many controversies around the death of Shastri, which is essential to be unwrapped.
The mystery and suspense around Shastri’s death:
Lalbahadur Shastri had died in a mysterious fashion post signing the Tashkent Pact with Pakistan’s then president Ayub Khan that followed the UN’s declaration of ceasefire to the Indo-Pak 1965 war.
Though it was said that Shastri died due to cardiac attack, but, his personal physician has to say that the former PM was having no issues of such prior to that. His personal physician Dr RN Chugh’s entire family was also killed in a mysterious way (in a road accident) after certain private investigating agencies started investigating on it.
In fact, Sunil Shashtri ( Lalbahadur Shastri’s son) asked for inquiry on the report as dark blue spots and cut signs on the abdomen of his father’s body was found. Some even had to claim that Shastri was poisoned. The cook of the then Indian Ambassador to the USSR was also arrested. Later, the PMO declined to oblige when the RTI queries were filed by the senior journalists like Kuldip Nayar and Anuj Dhar.
The movie is certainly going to make some news if all these scenes are showcased.
